My name is Melissa Brochu, but most people call me Mel.
I’m from Uxbridge Massachusetts, and am 1 of four sisters. I started my journey as a graphic designer my freshman year of high school. I went to a technical high school called, Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton, MA. There, I studied Multimedia Communications and found a deep interest in graphic design. I competed in Skills USA in Advertising Design three years in a row, winning first place twice at the district level. Learning the strength of my design skills, I knew I wanted to do it professionally.
I love the color green and Disney and try to involve it in my work as much as I can. My dream is to pursue a design job with The Walt Disney Company sometime in the future. I love typography, bright colors, illustration, animation, and working with Illustrator and InDesign. Most of my projects outside of school have been for friends and family, but I am excited to get out into the field and start gaining experience as designer.
When I’m not designing, I like to be outside, hang out with my dog Lilo, and dance. I have been a member of the Keene State College Dance Team since the start of my Freshman year and compete on the National level at UDA in open hip hop among hundreds of other schools.
